My Music Interviews
There was a season of my life when the soundtrack was ocean waves, canyon drives, and some of the most talented artists in the world.
Years ago, while working at a music company in Malibu, I had the incredible opportunity to sit down with musicians whose songs shaped road trips, late nights, and entire eras. What started as part of the job quickly became something more meaningful: real conversations about creativity, risk, failure, reinvention, and the stories behind the s

My Abnormal MRI + Breast Needle Biopsy
I had some unexpected news in 2023 as I was checking off all my health appointments for the new year, starting with an annual mammogram. Like many women, I have dense breast tissue coupled with the fact that my Mama Joy had carcinoma in situ + a lumpectomy performed on both of her breasts (20 years apart) My Aunt also recently had the same. Since having my first surgery (which you can read about here ) to remove an osteoma from my head, I’ve learned that a little preparation can make a big difference in both your hospital stay + recovery at home. COVID Essentials - My List Of Things To Have On Hand
After two + a half years of avoiding Covid, my parents + I finally caught it. Honestly, I’m incredibly grateful that we somehow managed to avoid getting sick during the earlier stages of the pandemic. Sometimes I still wonder if my clinical-level OCD tendencies played a role in keeping it away for so long. I was constantly reminding everyone around me: “Don’t touch that doorknob without a tissue,” “Go wash your hands,” “Put your mask on,” “Clean your phone.” The list truly we

Where I Was on September 11, 2001
During my college years, I worked as a receptionist at Morgan Stanley in New Jersey. My job mainly consisted of answering + transferring calls. A large television sat across from my desk + the news played on it all day long. On September 11, 2001, around 8:14 a.m., only about fourteen minutes after I had sat down at my desk, the world changed forever. I remember looking up at the TV as footage showed a plane crashing into one of the buildings. At first, like so many people, I

MENTAL HEALTH Resources
I recently learned that October 10th marks World Mental Health Day, observed by the World Health Organization since 1992 to raise awareness, honor those affected + encourage global action in support of mental health. Life is challenging, with the pandemic, ongoing social justice movements + the state of the world taking a toll on both our mental well-being + the availability of mental health resources. I firmly believe that everyone deserves happiness + wellness, no matter w

MEDITATION - Cue Controlled Relaxation
I learned cue-controlled relaxation a few months ago during virtual therapy and it has worked wonders for me. It is not something that worked overnight, it is something that I continue to practice each and every day to calm myself and check in with myself. What is cue-controlled relaxation? Read on... Cue-controlled relaxation reduces the time you need to relax even further: down to two or three minutes in most cases. In this stage, you will focus on your breathing and condit

I’ve experienced panic attacks both in private + in public + both are terrifying because they can come without warning + it’s hard for those around you to know how to help. Understanding Anxiety Disorders and Effective Treatment
Everyone feels anxious from time to time. Stressful situations such as meeting tight deadlines or important social obligations often make us nervous or fearful. Experiencing mild anxiety may help a person become more alert and focused on facing challenging or threatening circumstances. But individuals who experience extreme fear and worry that does not subside may be suffering from an anxiety disorder. The frequency and intensity of anxiety can be overwhelming and interfere w

AUTISM AWARENESS - The Arc’s Wings for Autism + Wings for All Program
Part of living a full life in the community includes being able to travel to faraway locations for both work and pleasure. People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) are entitled to this piece of community participation—just like anyone else—and should be able to navigate air transit comfortably to experience the same opportunities as every other traveler. People with autism and other I/DDs often experience barriers to participating in air travel. Airports
