OWL VENICE - The Pre Reset Guide

I’ll be diving deeper into why we chose to do the Reset + what it means for us in my next blog post. For now, let’s focus on preparing your mind + body before starting. Below, I’ve gathered all the essential pre-Reset tips from Health Coach Lillian Jacobs to help you get ready.
Your diet, lifestyle + environment leading up to the Reset will influence how you feel, so remember: it’s normal for each cleanse to feel a little different from the last. From my experience, when I take the time to properly prepare, I feel better from day one. Likewise, easing out of the cleanse thoughtfully can make that post-Reset glow last much longer.
Ready to get started? Here are my top tips for prepping before your OWL Reset
PRE-Reset
Ween Off The CAFFEINE
Don’t worry, it’s only temporary! I love my morning coffee too, but giving your adrenals a break a few times a year is important. The OWL Reset makes it easy for caffeine lovers because we swap in matcha for your morning mylkshake. You’ll still get a gentle caffeine lift to keep you energized, but it’s mild enough to let your adrenals rest.
If coffee is part of your daily routine, start tapering off a week or two before the reset. Trust me, easing off gradually is far more pleasant than going cold turkey (yes, I’ve tested both!).
Here’s how to do it:
Cut back gradually: Reduce your coffee by half a cup every few days. For example, if you usually drink 3 cups, try 2.5 cups for a few days, then 2 cups + so on. Feeling an afternoon slump? Swap in a cup of PIQUE green tea for a gentle caffeine boost + a hit of antioxidants.
Transition to lighter caffeine: Once you’re down to half a cup a day, give yourself credit, it’s not easy! Then, switch to PIQUE green tea or OWL Reset ceremonial-grade matcha. Spend a day or two getting comfortable with this lighter caffeine option before starting the Reset.
Say Sayonara To SUGAR
Sugar triggers dopamine release in your brain, the “feel-good” chemical which is why it can be so addictive. Those happy feelings make your body want more + more! Honestly, I don’t realize how much sugar I consume daily (+ how hooked I am) until I have to cut it out. Going cold turkey during the OWL Reset can bring on some rough sugar withdrawal symptoms, not fun at all. Here’s how to ease into it so your Reset feels a lot smoother.
Step-by-step guide:
Become label-savvy: About a week before your cleanse, start paying attention to how much sugar you actually eat. Read every label, you’d be surprised how much sugar hides even in foods marketed as “healthy.”
Swap wisely: Spend a few days replacing processed sugar with nutrient-rich alternatives like maple syrup, honey, or coconut palm sugar.
Gradually reduce substitutes: Once refined sugar is out of your diet, begin tapering your sugar substitutes incrementally, just like you weaned off caffeine. Another pat on the back here, you’re doing hard work! If you feel a sugar crash or cravings, reach for fresh fruit instead. Fun fact: once your body is off added sugar, fruit starts to taste incredibly sweet + satisfying.
Simplify, Simplify...You Guessed It...SIMPLIFY!
It’s nice to give the gut a break as you ease into a liquid based cleanse. Focus on easy to digest meals for about 3 days before your cleanse. One of the easiest ways to do this is to cut out condiments. The sauces + spreads that make our food so very tasty often have multitudes of ingredients, sweeteners, thickeners + preservatives. None of that is easy on the gut. Swap it out for fresh herbs + spices, which have healing properties as well. It’s a double win! Here’s a few of my favorite pre-cleanse food ideas
Simple soups: take your favorite veggie or two (I personally love carrots and/or broccoli for this), boil them in a saucepan with the OWL Vegan Mineral Broth (or whatever your favorite flavor is) + let simmer until the veggies are soft. Add a splash of full fat coconut milk (the canned kind) + blend all together until the soup is a creamy consistency.
