Womens Winter Fashion Guide

Updated: Jan 31, 2021

For the past 8 years I have lived in warmer climates in both Florida and California. I am now back on the East Coast and although I enjoy the appeal of looking out the window and feeling as if I live in a cozy little winter wonderland snow globe, it is still taking some time getting use to this wintery time of year.

What does get me a excited for the cold is seeing all the winter fashion! I cleared out most of my winter clothes from my closet when I moved to California. So now, that I am currently back on the East Coast, I'm working on a capsule collection for my winter wardrobe that is well made, well designed and classic.

Below are some of my recent purchases as well as things that are on my wish list. I will also be including more great winter wardrobe finds for men and children in my other blog posts.

Just click on the product photo and it will bring you to the brand's website. Be sure to join my mailing list and send me a message first, so I can give you a discount code for any of the products you see on my site!

I recently purchased this Patagonia "Radalie" Insulated Parka which is currently on sale for under $100 on the REI Co-op website. I got it in the color, "Sage Khaki"which I think is such a chic color for the winter! I absolutely love this parka for a number of reasons: 1) it is made sustainably 2) the material is durable water repellent and provides the first layer of defense against moisture aka it's waterproof. 3) Inner collar, cuffs and handwarmer pockets have a soft brushed tricot liner for warmth and comfort 4) There is a left-chest Retro-X-style patch pocket with an exposed zipper; zip-closure inner right-chest pocket.

I'm currently rocking Hunter rain boots in the snow but I just fell in love with these GANNI Edna Shearling-Lined Suede Boots. The plush shearing provides warmth & style and the trek soles are practical enough for snowy winter terrains!

I have these Courtney Front Zip Combat Boots from Target and LOVE them! They are beyond comfy, warm and so minimalist & chic! There are actually two zippers which makes them super easy to slide into without any hassle. I really wanted an easy to slide into boot and these were the perfect score with its price tag. Target doesn't always hit the mark with their footwear, but with these boots, they hit the bullseye!

Gloves. I neeeeeeeeed 'em like yesterday! I am considering these Adidas by Stella McCartney Run Gloves but I'm not sure how warm they are for winter. I do like that they are stretchy and machine washable.

As I said, I have not found a pair of winter gloves that I truly love and I'm still debating these Patagonia "Retro Pile" Gloves also from the REI Co-op website. They are currently sold out, so I'm out of luck for now. Let me know if you have any good recommendations for warm and durable gloves. And sidenote, they must be machine washable, please!

I've been looking for the perfect warm winter pajamas and wanted to find ones that are super buttery soft. I am in love with these Moonlight Pajamas by Nordstrom Lingerie. The contrast piping outlines classic menswear-inspired PJs that pair a swing top with soft, fluid pants. What I also love about this pajama set is that this garment was made in a factory that supports women worker empowerment through HERproject, which creates partnerships to enable workplace-based interventions on health, financial inclusion, and gender equality.

I am seriously lusting after the ultimate winter robe that will make me feel as though I am still wrapped in my Parachute "Cloud" duvet cover when I exit the shower. I want buttery softness and warmth and I think my search is finally over! I currently have my eye on this Pottery Barn Faux Fur Robe. I love the Gray Ombre color (the first robe in the photo to the left) The website description checks all my boxes: "The ultimate in luxurious comfort, our superior-quality faux fur robe is as indulgent as it is beautiful. The faux fur trim is exceptionally woven from the finest materials for a sumptuously plush feel, and its handsome texture beautifully emulates the inherent softness and color variation of genuine fur." And you know your girl loves that this robe is: STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified. Tested in an independent lab and verified to be safe from over 350 harmful substances. It's also machine washable and if you have a special someone in mind you want to gift this robe to, monogramming is available at an additional charge. It is normally $149 and currently on sale for $89. If you ask nicely, I just might have a referral code for you for extra savings!

I'm a big fan of Stella McCartney and I love her inspired collaboration with Adidas. McCartney has collaborated with Adidas since 2005 to create innovative, performance driven workout wear. I have this voluminous Stella McCartney x Adidas Fleece Sweatshirt on my wishlist. And as the website says, "After a workout, what's a better feeling than comfort? Actually, scratch that. Rephrase. In general, what's a better feeling than comfort? This adidas by Stella McCartney sweatshirt means that question never even crossed your mind. At least not when you're wearing it. Because once you put it on the only thing you're thinking about is how good it feels. Thank the soft fleece and oversize shape for that." And with that....I'm sold!

When I think classic, I think cashmere. If I'm going to wear a sweater, I want it to be......I think you know where I'm headed with my next adjective....BUTTERY SOFT. I discovered the brand, NAADAM from interior designer, Amber Lewis, whose store, Shoppe Amber Interiors in Calabasas, California I frequented every Saturday on the way to the farmers market. But that's a whole other post for my design blog where I will talk more about the awesomeness that is Amber Lewis. The point is, I have Amber to thank for introducing me to this line of affordable cashmere. The Essential Cashmere Sweater by NAADAM is 100% cashmere and is only $75 bucks! The "Essential" cashmere sweater is available in 15 colors, ultra soft, and one of my favorite words: sustainable!

I love neutrals like white, gray, black, green, beige... but I also love pops of happy colors in my wardrobe. I'm a big fan of color blocking and certain colors paired together, especially like this Free People "Rivington" Sherpa Style Jacket with contrasting utility pocket. It's originally $172 but currently on sale on the ASOS website for a little under $60 bucks! Super score!

I seem to gravitate more towards wearing skirts with warm stockings in the winter rather than jeans and pants. Perhaps it's the fact that I cannot fully give up my California endless summer style or maybe I simply love the effortless chic of a soft yummy sweater paired with a skirt, stockings and a fiercely cool chunky boot? Perhaps it's both of those reasons and that is why I adore Rag and Bone for their classic collections. I've got my eye on this Fleece Cutoff Cotton Blend Sweater. I'm in love with this whole look.

Who doesn't love an oversized crew sweater? You know I'm all about that #cozylife and this Aerie Waffle Oversized Crew Sweater is no exception. I want this sweater in every color! It's originally $60 but currently on sale for 40% off. This is the kind of sweater you can pull off as a pajama or loungewear or elevate it slightly for going outside with jeans, a skirt or leggings with some chic winter boots, a parka, cute hat and you are ready to stroll the aisles at Whole Foods for more SNACKS.
