Bourbon Spice Pumpkin Pie with DATE LADY - Thanksgiving Edition!

I didn't always like pumpkin pie but over the years, my taste buds have changed and now, I love it and look forward to it every October, November and let's be honest...December too!

Date Lady shared her recipe for (in my opinion) the perfect improvement on the traditional pumpkin pie. First off, she uses what else but....DATES! Instead of sugar, the dates give it sweet depth and is much healthier for ya! Not such a horrible compromise is it? Then, we've added a tad extra spice and a touch of bourbon for a little bit of flair!

The Benefits of Dates:
  • Dates are a fruit rich in dietary potassium, fiber, iron and magnesium.

  • Dates contain a wide range of trace elements like boron, cobalt, copper, fluorine, magnesium, manganese, selenium, and zinc!

Filling

  • 1 can of Organic Pumpkin Puree (Trader Joe's brand is our fav)

  • 3 Eggs (Vital Farms brand is our fav)

  • 3/4 cup of Date Lady: Date Syrup

  • 1/2 cup of Sour Cream

  • 1 tsp. of fresh Nutmeg (Simply Organic brand is our fav)

  • 1 tsp. of Cloves

  • 1 tsp. of Ginger

  • 1 tbsp. of Cinnamon

  • 1 tbsp. of Bourbon

  • 2 tbsp. of Arrowroot (Bob's Red Mill brand is our fav)



Directions

  • Combine all ingredients with a whisk.

  • Pour filling into a pre-baked pie crust (Wholly Wholesome brand is our fav)

  • Bake at 350 degree for 30-40 minutes.

  • Filling will be set when there is only a slight jiggle in the center.


Feeling Extra?

Add some fresh whipped topping!


  • Add a Tbsp. of Date Lady: Date Syrup (or) Date Lady: Caramel to coconut cream (Native Forest brand is our fav) instead of sugar and beat until stiff.

  • Drizzle slightly with Date Lady: Date Coconut Sauce for a delicious finish!
